Our Companies’ success was built on Mrs Estée Lauders’ keen sense of community and the importance placed on treating all consumers with the utmost respect; providing safe, high quality products backed with excellent service.
The Estée Lauder Companies and its employees worldwide care deeply about adhering to the highest standards of behaviour so that customers, employees, retail partners and the global community continue to recognise us as an open, honest and principled organisation. In Australia, we work collaboratively as a house of brands to give back and improve the communities and lives of others who are less fortunate.
Breast Cancer Awareness
In 1992, Evelyn Lauder co-created the Pink Ribbon to raise awareness about the importance of breast health. Since then, nearly 110 million Pink Ribbons have been distributed at The Estée Lauder Companies’ retail counters worldwide. The Pink Ribbon message is simple: Early detection and treatment of breast cancer saves lives.
In 1993, Evelyn Lauder founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), an independent non-profit organisation that funds breast cancer research and awareness programs worldwide. To date, BCRF has raised more than US$285 million for translational research and awareness. Many cancer related medical breakthroughs have been supported though this funding. For more information on BCRF visit www.bcrfcure.org.au.
In Australia, The Estée Lauder Companies are a proud platinum partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition to funding research scholarships, The Estée Lauder Companies’ retail counters sell National Breast Cancer Foundation Pink Ribbon Merchandise throughout October. For more information on Pink Ribbon Merchandise, visit: www.pinkribbon.org.au.
“When I launched The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in 1992, breast cancer was only spoken about in whispers. Eighteen years later, countless survivors, supporters, politicians and celebrities have joined us in our mission. Major strides actually have been made, though we still have a long way to go. We continue to make a real difference, and through our combined efforts of raising awareness and raising funds for research, breast cancer will become a distant memory.” - Evelyn H. Lauder
Look Good…Feel Better
Look Good Feel Better
Estee Lauder companies are proud supporters and Diamond Partners of Look Good Feel Better.
Look Good Feel Better is a free national community service program run by the Cancer Patients Foundation and dedicated to teaching cancer patients how to manage the appearance-related side-effects caused by cancer treatment. Women, men and teens participate in a practical workshop covering skincare techniques to alleviate symptoms including dryness and sallowness; make-up tips to help deal with concealing redness and drawing on eyebrows; and advice on headwear including scarf styling and wig selection. Each participant receives a Confidence Kit, full of skincare and make-up products donated by the cosmetic industry to use as tools for application throughout the workshop and for continued use in their own homes.
Look Good Feel Better has supported over 130,000 participants and now offers over 1000 workshops each year in 180 locations around Australia for anyone undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Visit www.lgfb.org.au for more information.
The Estée Lauder Companies is recognised for its long term significant contribution to breast cancer awareness and research.
In 2000, The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign expanded its efforts and launched the Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative to spread the life saving message in a new, exciting and dramatic way.
In October 2010, The BCA Campaign’s Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative will celebrate its 11th Anniversary with more than 200 famous buildings, monuments and landmarks joining in this effort by being illuminated in glowing pink lights to stand as international symbols of hope to empower and enlighten millions of women everywhere.
In Australia, The Estée Lauder Companies, in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation will illuminate over 30 buildings, monuments, bridges and landmarks as well as hosting five Global Illumination fundraising events across Australia to raise vital funds for breast cancer research. For more information visit, www.globalillumination.org.au.
“We launched our Global Landmark Illumination Initiative in 2000 to add an exciting and unique dimension to The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign that enlightens women and raises awareness by the flip of a switch. In the last 11 years, our Illumination effort has been transformed from a handful of prominent landmarks to more than 200 worldwide. Each year we are so appreciative to have the support of these world-renowned buildings, landmarks and monuments that join forces with us to cover the world in pink to help raise awareness in order to conquer this disease in the not too distant future.” - Evelyn H. Lauder

La Mer World Oceans Day
In celebration of World Oceans Day, La Mer is proud to continue its partnership with Oceana, the world’s largest international ocean advocacy organization. Since 2005, La Mer has worked with Oceana to promote ocean protection and restoration in recognition of La Mer’s founder, Dr. Max Huber. In honor of the sea, La Mer has created a limited-edition 100 ml World Oceans Day Crème in a commemorative ocean-inspired jar. In addition, La Mer will make a $200,000 donation to Oceana in support of their Habitat Protection Campaign as well as other global initiatives for ocean conservation.
La Mer is committed to preserving the oceans, which provide the nutrient-rich sea kelp used by Dr. Max Huber to develop Crème de La Mer’s Miracle Broth. La Mer sustainably harvests the top section of sea kelp to maintain the underwater forest ecosystem and protect future generations of the marine plant.
